Jenna graduated with her Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria in 2012 and was admitted to the bar in June 2013. Jenna was born and raised in Kamloops, BC and relocated her family law practice to Central Alberta where she represents clients from our urban and rural communities.
Jenna has experience litigating high-conflict family matters, in addition to negotiating parenting and child support issues, drafting separation agreements for common-law spouses or partners’ seeking to cohabitate, resolving property disputes, and finalizing divorces. Jenna is also a fan of utilizing other dispute resolution mechanisms such as mediation and has completed her Collaborative Family Law training to engage in the unique process of resolving family disputes with the parties and their lawyers together in an open round-table environment, without going to court, and with the assistance of various professionals such as Financial Specialists or Counsellors.
Prior to practicing family law, Jenna acted on behalf of domestic and international insurers practising exclusively in the area of Civil Litigation as an insurance defence lawyer and tackled complex cases involving personal injury, contractual disputes, property damage, occupier’s liability and so forth. However, Jenna’s experience is varied. As a law student, she performed work as a student legal representative for victims of domestic violence at a Women’s Centre in Surrey, BC, and, while practicing in Kamloops, she acted as Director’s Counsel for the Ministry of Children and Family Development in the area of child protection and welfare.
Jenna received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Thompson Rivers University in 2007 with a focus on Sociology and Political Science. During her time at Thompson Rivers University, she served as Vice-President on the Student Union. Jenna completed her first year of law school at Western University where she served on the Social Justice Committee and campaigned for sustainable environmental practices to be implemented on campus. She has also completed courses in French and Spanish at Université Laval, Quebec, and Mundo Spanish School in Antigua, Guatemala. Jenna has travelled extensively, including travel to South East Asia, Australia, Europe, Central and South America where she also worked as an Au Pair and taught English to various locals.
Jenna is dedicated to her clients, prides herself on being approachable, and performs her legal duties with integrity. Outside of work, Jenna spends her time camping, fishing, cooking, playing volleyball, and spending time at home in the tranquility of the countryside.
